Interbike, the largest bicycle industry trade show in North America, today announced several key initiatives towards strengthening its bond with the BMX category at its event. The 2012 Interbike trade show will again designate a special section of the floor plan for BMX-only products called the BMX Zone. Additionally, partnerships have been formed with industry leaders for educational seminars, a brand-neutral freestyle BMX history area within the BMX Zone will be built, and a new alliance with the Ride BMX NORA Cup Awards will commence.

In an effort to draw more attention to everything that is happening in the world of BMX, Interbike began adding focus on the BMX category earlier this year by starting an advisory panel to work with show management.

“BMX has such an important history within our industry, and with the category making its second appearance at the Olympics this year – the sport is growing,” said Pat Hus, Interbike’s Managing Director.

This past week has been a short and sweet trip to Salt Lake City Utah for two rounds of the ABA American BMX National rounds. This weekends racing was my last competition before the Olympic Games. The Australian High Performance Olympic Team and our coach Wade Bootes came over here to America for the week as part of our final preparation leading into the games. It was a hard weekend of racing with tough American competition for Lauren Reynolds and myself, 38 degree heat, altitude and wind. Unfortunately day one of racing Alise Post crashed in the final and didn't race day two I hope she pulls up ok!
