After crashing in the Beijing Olympic final, Jared Graves has returned to the BMX track with success on his mind and taken out the National Series round on the Gold Coast overnight. The 27 year old from Toowoomba in Queensland dominated a star studded final which included USA's Daniel Caluag and Japan's Tatsumi Matsushita. It was the defending national series winner, Brian Kirkham from Adelaide, who lay down the challenge to Graves but Kirkham had to be content with second place. The pressure was too much for fellow Adelaide rider and current world cup series winner, Sam Willoughby, who dominated the heats to finish in fifth place in the final just behind Joshua Callan from Victoria. Caluag placed a respectable third.

We were all good this year here in Poland, and Santa decided to be more than generous to us than ever before. In the last few weeks, a new store was opened in downtown Warsaw, Poland. It is the only shop of that kind in the capitol and one of very few in the whole country. It is not a secret that BMX is a very young sport in Warsaw as well as whole Poland, but this country has a great potential when it comes to this sport. Plenty of spots to ride allows the riders to be limited only by their imagination and the level of skills.

Since there are only few BMX shops in the entire country of Poland, our goal is to change that and help the growth of BMX in Poland. Furnished with style and ran by bmx riders, the store offers whole bikes as well as a great assortment of most of the parts available in Poland.

That place has an atmosphere and a vibe of its own. It’s where people with that one passion meet.

National Bicycle League Founder, Bob Tedesco, is retiring from his position as NBL Director of Competition effective immediately. The NBL Board of Directors will leave the position vacant until after Competition Congress in early February when a new Board of Directors will be elected. On his retirement, Bob said, “The time has come for me to step down and retire as the Director of Competition of the National Bicycle League. This position I have held for many years has been both challenging and rewarding. It has been my sincere pleasure to serve the National Bicycle League in this capacity, and I truly appreciate all the support that I have always received from the Board of Directors.

I am extremely pleased with Gary Aragon’s approach and vision for the future of the NBL and my retirement will help him and the Board members prepare and review candidates for their selection after Congress. I have immense confidence and am certain that Gary will succeed in making the NBL once again “The Best in BMX”.
