ESPN, the leading action sports content provider and creator of the X Games, will begin an RFP (Request for Proposal) process to identify interested cities from North America to host the X Games for a period of three consecutive years: 2014, 2015 and 2016 for a summer event; and 2015, 2016 and 2017 for a winter event. Interested cities may also submit proposals combining both summer and winter sports within the same X Games events. With the existing agreements between Los Angeles partner AEG and Aspen’s Aspen Skiing Company (ASC) concluding in 2013 and 2014, respectively, ESPN is seeking opportunities to move the event to new locations in North America and offer fans in those cities a chance to experience the X Games. In May, ESPN announced it would be expanding the X Games to Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil; Munich, Germany and Barcelona, Spain –

Harrison Street was the center of attention today at the Dew Tour Toyota City Championships. The debut of the progressive Streetstyle disciplines shut down three city blocks, turning them into a skater and BMX rider’s dream downhill set-up of makeshift ramps and rails. The Dew Tour, in conjunction with the athletes and industry veterans, created the Streetstyle discipline as a way to recognize the thriving action sports community in San Francisco. The all-new event drives progression, while giving the athletes a never before seen platform to show off their creativity and style.

The times that GT and HARO battled it out for the most bike sales are long gone. Now we have 50 companies that make decent to good completes for a fair price. With all of them jumping into the BMX market guessing what they'll sell, there are a lot of companies left with a whole bunch of bikes that they need to get rid of before the 2013 line rolls out. We need more riders that can affort a new ride. Let's help grow the market. Here are a bunch of the 2013 bikes that will come out soon. Seen at Eurobike. Pick one.

At a trade show you do the rounds. Making it through all the new stuff at Eurobike in two days that I had planned for it was a challlenge. One reason to check the show was to give back to those companies that support the FATBMX website. In this post you'll see some new products from Diamondback, Leatt-Brace, TSG, GT, Tioga, Sunday, 34R and the soon to be welcomed HARO Bikes. If companies want to be part of the Interbike sponsor report, please get in touch. We've got some open spots for 2013.

Nobody likes to get hurt, but it will happen when you ride BMX. Dressing for the ride, not the crash is an option, but it sucks to deal with the consequences. A scrape is okay, it will heal. A broken bone sucks and will take you out for a couple of weeks. Torn ligaments are worse, those can take up to 9 months. We've had to deal with some terrible crashes lately that sent riders in a coma. People, it's not worth it riding without the proper gear. The more you wear, the longer you'll ride.
