On August 5th the Allcity Style Graffiti & Design exposition will open at the People's story in Cologne, Germany. Over 40 designers, graphic artists and graffiti artists (loomit, Boris Hoppek Viagrafik, Marok etc.) have worked on scaled versions of New York City Subway trains. On Saturday August 5th the opening takes place and Mr. Reissdorf is taking care of the beer and DJ Galaxyexpress 999 is taking care of the tunes. Opens at 12:00hr and will end around 21:00hr.

With the opening of the "Pivot" skate shop across the street, don't be surprised if there will be chaos in the Roonstrasse.

The 2nd Annual CFB - BMX Riders' Art Show Back by popular demand. The CFB - BMX Riders' Art Show will take place from 7 pm to Midnight, Saturday, June 3, in Oklahoma City. The location is 1100 N. Broadway in the historical district of Automobile Alley in downtown Oklahoma City. The call for entries is now open and the deadline to receive artwork is Friday, May 26. We haven't seen a FATBMX piece lately so those of you who actively participate in graffiti art, feel free to take your sketch book and start drawing. The actual spray-can piece is the ultimate goal whether it's at an illegal spot or not. We grabbed the camera to check on the latest art at the legal spot (Berenkuil) in Eindhoven, NL. If you see a FATBMX throw-up somewhere, make sure to send us a photo of it so we can put it online. Sweet.

April 22 will be the opening of Built to Expose in ‘de Cantine’ in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. An exhibition of skateboards painted by an extraordinary selection of the netherlands best artists, tattoo-artists, illustrators, designers and skateboarders. Over 35 different artists all with different styles contributed to a bizarre, extraordinary and must see exhibition. Artist like for example: Erik Kriek, Def P, Peter Pontiac, Typex, Angelique, Hoving, Hein de Kort, Claudia Hek, Luuk Bode, Rob Admiraal, etc, etc, etc… 

Whilst surfing the net one day for inspiration and possible contacts for design work I found a few designs up on Streetphire that looked pretty good. They were by a lad called Kevin Newbury who originates from the Northeast and rides BMX and also skates. After looking at a few more of his designs and getting to know Kevin better he ended up doing some design work for Valleyside; He told me not too pay him until I was more established and could afford to pay for his design work which I thought was cool. In return for his time I wanted to help promote Mr. Newbury in some small way... I thought he would make a cool person to interview because he genuinely likes design work and gets enjoyment just from seeing his designs being worn and not just Making dollar...

We've got a category on FATBMX dedicated to Comics and Art. Every once in a while we go over to the local graffiti spot to take pics of the latest pieces but sometimes we receive some reader art. These paintings come from the hands of Dutchy Vincent van Gogh, uh I mean Michael de Wit of Medow Design. After quitting his job as art director at Globe he had some free time on his hands and started painting. One of the boards ended up in the Dogtown exposition at the ASR trade show. If you're interested in a Medow painting, contact www.medowdesign.com but don't expect something to happen anytime soon as Mike just found a job over at Vans doing all kind of design stuff.

Eindhoven has a legal sport for graffiti artists or whoever wants to express their feelings with a spraycan. Some of it is good, some is rubbish, but everybody needs to start somewhere. It's better to do it at a legal spot. The tFAT piece you see here is not made by the FATBMX crew. We stopped doing this in 1985 when we made our first "piece" and got caught (and spent the next day cleaning the wall). Enjoy part one of the Berenkuil art. Artsy Fartsy shows in BMX are nothing new but it's cool when organizations and photographers/artists go out of their way to make it happen. At the Rebel Jam in Berlin, Germany most of the respected BMX photographers had photos on display and were present at the very cool photo exposition. A few DJ's kept the tunes going, drinks were available and a good time was had by all. Enjoy this photo report of the photo expo from the 2005 Rebel Jam.

Just outside from the H10 Marina hotel in Barcelona (near Port Olympic) a few walls are sprayed with some decent graffiti. One really caught our eye and we had to take a picture of it. It said "Robo Crap" but we're not sure if it has anything to do with Robbie "Robo" Morales' FIT team visit to Barcelona a few years ago. Anyway, while we were at it, we shot the other pieces too. Our buddy Michael de Wit is one of the artists to display work at the Dogtown invitational art show at the ASR trade show in San Diego. The exhibition will take place from 9-11 September next. Michael is in good company with art displayed from people like Andy Jenkins, Lance Mountain, Eric Dressen, Jim Muir, Natas Kaupas and C.R. Stecyk.
