FAT Friday : FAT Friday week 27 Straight from the beach

This week the updates were a little different than normal. Instead of covering the entire spectrum of BMX, we covered a part of BMX that does not receive as much attention as it deserves. Flatland riders are a special folk full of individuals. Each of them actually needs to be original to stand out and there is room to do so in the flatland world. This week we interviewed several pro flatland riders. Terry Adams is one of them and he takes flatland wherever he can and that includes the cover of the latest Props Video Magazine. Bram Verhallen is Holland's number one pro flatlander but he has a different take on competing these days and even picked up street riding to mix it up. He did recently receive his second pro frame from KHE that he just put together and will be shown on FATBMX too. If you're riding flatland and people pass by, you have probably heard the comment; "You should go to the circus!" Robert Alton listened to that and became a true professional rider.

Chrome bike, flashy costumes, faultless routines, read it all in his interview. The profiler that received most hits this week was Martti Kuoppa's interview. He is the man and we could not run FLAT WEEK without him. Be ready for his bike check too. Very colorful! Cream magazine owner Alain Massabova's heart is in flatland, he even wrote a book about it and runs multiple pages of flatland riding in each issue of Cream. If you don't have a copy of his Flat Kings book yet, be ready for a competition here on FATBMX soon. RedBull has been a strong supporter of flatland riding. They not only sponsor Terry Adams, Viki Gomez, Yanmar and Martti Kuoppa but recently picked up Matthias Dandois too. The RedBull Circle of Balance has been the contest to get invited for. We caught up with Andy Zeiss on the COB status. If you have checked the numerous bike checks this week you have noticed that the flatland rides do look different from any street/dirt bike. Hit the Reviews button to see what we mean. Scott OBrien loves flatland and makes sure it all looks legit. Find his interview on FATBMX too. You are probably tired of hearing all this flatland stuff. If you're not into it, you had a terrible week on FATBMX. Maybe you should cancel your subscription and ask for your money back. Wait a minute, it's free. Different BMX content next week, we promise.

-The BMX Masters last weekend were good. Big event, big jumps, big crowd, big starter field and it did stay dry. You have probably seen the 120 videos of the contest already, and yes we did have some good parties.

-Rumours of Mike Dominguez being dead are not true. Damn internet.

-Jon Taylor, Jimmy Walker and Jamie Bestwick did shows for O2 in England and a Nelson Mandela festival. The pics we received from Chris Woodage did not quite fit FLAT WEEK but will go online sooner rather than later.

-The Soldier song is now available to download on i-Tunes. Punch in "Soldier" or "TJ Lavin" and it will get you there. $ 1.98 per download. Kimarie set up camp in Germany at the BMX Masters and sold loads of Stephen Murray Stay Strong clothing. Stephen Murray is going to be a judge at the Soul Bowl in Huntington Beach later this month so that will be great. There's a Legend demo as well with Brian Blyther, Ron Wilkerson, Mike Dominguez (he's still alive), Dave Voelker and Eddie Fiola. We'll be there so expect pics from this legendary day.

-Mike Spinner will on NBC's Saturday morning show tomorrow from 7am-9am. Are you awake for that?

-The FAT-JAM is shaping up well. We're receiving support from all corners which makes this 20th edition a good one. Have you seen the limited edition FAT-JAM-Carhartt sticker packs yet? Too good to be true. T-shirts to follow soon. The Sugar Hills are getting ready too. The PB team built a giant landing for all the stunts you have ever wanted to attempt on a sandy landing and the TransVer is most likely going to cause some victims. Bands to play at OJA (live) will be Dan Dryers (Germany) and Quest For Rescue (Germany) with special act the Fist Fucking Pigs From Hell. BBQ by Eastpak, DJ set-up by RedBull, and it is the first stop of the Carhartt BMX tour so expect some good riders to turn up. 9 August 2008. No excuses now.

-Thanks for checking in. This one came from a tent on a campsite in France. A day late but the internet connection here is far from the highspeed w.w.w. we're used to back home. Enjoy the summer.
