Scene reports: Cali trippin' Day 6: From Woodward to Fontana. By BdJ

After waking up, doing updates and answering the mail, we headed back to Woodward West. It had rained a lot at night so our plan worked out. Glad to have ridden everything outdoors the day before. Now indoor was on the program. When Andy and I rolled up we were the only ones there. We got lost before we even put our pads on. I decided to take some overview pics and at the same time check the new additions to the indoor area. Not long after that we were cruising around. We didn’t hit the foam pit once, but we got a visitor from Seattle who didn’t 

waste any time and did 6 double loops in a row into the foam and then took it to the resi. He pulled it first try and was hella stoked. It took him less than 30 minutes total to get the job done that had been on his mind for a long time. Respect.

Andy and I were just happy enough we survived the session in one piece and left Woodward in the early afternoon after two great days there. If you ever have the chance to go, do it. We packed up the Ford and headed back towards LA. An evening session at Fontana skatepark was on the program.

Gas prices have gone through the roof, but they’re still practically half price from what we pay so it’s not all too bad. We always put the cheapest crap in the tank. Surprisingly most gas stations didn’t accept credit cards. Cash only. Not very practical but this way they’re saving on costs that are charged by the credit card companies and they’re sure the cash is in the pocket. The crisis ain’t over yet. We drove by Nasty’s place again and saw several motocross tracks on the way back. We stopped and ate at Subway for food and entered the Fontana area around 5pm.

Clouds were still in the air and it looked like it could start raining any minute. Biz, Povah and the MacNeil crew were all at the Fontana skatepark having a session. The park has some serious concrete bowls. Good to see they allow BMX in there. After the second session of the day was over we cruised over to McGoo’s for a night’s sleep. Another day in the pocket.
