Scene reports: USA tripping part 4. Building up the bikes. By BdJ

Day 4 USA. Temecula, California. It’s not that McGoo is chilling these days. He started Biltwell with the help of some other people a few years ago and it’s kicking off. Biltwell makes chopper parts, helmets, and whatever they feel like. With the ChopCult blog they’ve created a strong following in only a few years time. Seeing the warehouse showed that they’re serious. Orders were constantly going out the door and several projects were being worked on the day we were there.

We used the workshop to build up our bikes. What better place could you ask for with all the tools around. Andy’s new Inman bike was put together without any probs., ready for action in 45 minutes. We had lunch at an Italian place with McGoogle, Biltwell’s Mike D, and Eric Westergaard. It was a fiesta to say the least. McGoo and Eric were going to San Diego to pick up a used motorcycle for a new project for the ChopCult site. Andy and I drove down to San Diego to meet up with Dale Holmes at a local Starbucks. It was good to talk some BMX Supercross with the new Daddy. Dale’s all about BMX, thanks for the advice Dale.

On the way back to Temecula we stopped at Pala Raceway. We knew it was closed but weren’t sure if we could see the track or not. On the way there we spotted a concrete skatepark which looked good. Aaron Cooke runs the Pala track and we didn’t get to see much when we arrived at the gate. We tried the sand path on the right but that didn’t get us far. Okay, we know where it is now so maybe next time we can get some riding in when it’s open. They’ve just recently added BMX dirt jumps to the MX track so who knows how things will develop there. On the way back we passed the concrete park again and stopped for a second to see if it was possible to ride there. NO BIKES. Everything else, but NO BIKES. Sucks indeed.

We drove back to McGoo’s and got some Taco Bell for dinner. Dorito Tacos all day! The weather report didn’t look all too great for the next few days so we would see in the morning if it would be worth it to drive over to Woodward West to only ride indoors.
