I haven't watched a BMX race since I was about 7 years old. The course was technical to say the least with a huge gap jump after the start and another huge double later on the track. These guys are amazing how fast they go and the distance they jump. Derek Betcher landed sideways during a semi and got some medical attention. Luckily he walked off the track a few minutes later under his own power. Robbie Miranda crashed in his semi also and missed the cut as did 56 of the other racers who had qualified for the Supercross earlier on. 
The main looked like this: Randy Stumpfhauser (USA), Donny Robinson (USA), Brandon Meadows (USA), Mike Day (USA), Aaron Johnson (USA), Michal Prokop (CZE), Jason Rogers (USA), and Arnaud Dubois (BEL). Mikey Day took the lead but came short on a jump which gave Czech Republic's Prokop the lead for the remainder of the exciting race. 2006 #1 pro Donny Robinson and Arnaud Dubois from Belgium complemented the podium in San Jose.Lloyd Ramsay.

BMX Racing Makes Olympic Debut in 2008 in Beijing
San Jose, Calif. – September 7, 2006 – Michal Prokop of the Czech Republic took first place in the first round of the UCI BMX Supercross World Cup Finals, which was held today as a specialty competition at the fourth stop of the Dew Action Sports Tour, the Toyota Challenge.“I liked being part of this event,” said Prokop. “The course was very good and I’ve had a very nice time in San Jose.”
Today’s competition is a precursor to what will be seen in Beijing 2008, when BMX Supercross debuts as an Olympic sport. This was the first of two rounds of the UCI BMX Supercross World Cup; the second and final round will be held in Fréjus, France, October 6-7, 2006.
In BMX Supercross, points are given to individual athletes and to countries in the UCI Nations ranking, which qualifies competing countries into the 2008 Olympic Games. This is the second consecutive year that the Toyota Challenge hosted the UCI BMX Supercross World Cup Finals. More than 100 athletes from 15 nations participated in San Jose.
