LOS ANGELES – X Games 12 announces new sports, new athletes and more coverage going into the twelfth annual event. In addition to ESPN’s announcement this spring of Rally Car Racing being added to the sports lineup, X Games 12 will include another medaled event, BMX Big Air. For the first time, X Games will be aired 24 hours each day of the event using ESPN, ESPN2, ABC, ESPN Classic, EXPN.com, ESPN360, Mobile ESPN, ESPN International, iTunes and provide unprecedented round-the-clock coverage including a first-ever Pay-Per-View offering for BMX Big Air and an X Games Moto Madness demonstration.
"ESPN’s mission is to serve sports everywhere through compelling content that can be consumed when the sports fan wants it and how they want it.” said Ron Semiao, senior vice president, ESPN Original Entertainment.
“We are dedicated to making the X Games available through all platforms of distribution possible.”
The annual X Games is the premier action sports event in the world and showcases more than 150 of the world’s top athletes competing in BMX Freestyle, Moto X, Skateboard, Surfing and the newest sport added to X Games, Rally Car Racing, which will bring names like Colin McRae, Ken Block and Travis Pastrana. For 2006, the Home Depot Center in Carson will host an increased number of X Games competitions, while other events will return to STAPLES Center in downtown Los Angeles. The event is scheduled for August 3-6, 2006.
