The bests of BMX Freestyle collide on Saturday, August 7, as Maxxis Tires presents the inaugural 2010 Trans Jam BMX Contest. Taking place in uptown Charlotte, NC, on the corner of South Tryon Street and West 3rd Street, the contest is being held in conjunction with the Presbyterian Hospital Novant Health Invitational Criterium bicycle race. Guests are welcome to attend the contest for free and witness today's top BMX ramp riders and flatlanders performing bicycle stunts high in the air and also on the ground.

Amateurs and professionals alike will compete for a variety of prizes provided by a large list of sponsors, such as a Mirraco bike and a Peavey guitar, in addition to a monetary purse of $800. The grand prize winner of the Park Professional class will take away a 1988 Pontiac Trans Am sportscar with T-tops. Orginally, the Prize Purse for professional classes was listed as $2,000 . Since the addition of the Trans Am, a Kelly Blue Book Value of $2,700, an $800 prize purse will be split up between the Professional classes of the Park and Flatland disciplines. Trans Jam will begin at 10:00 a.m. and continue throughout the day until approximately 9:00 p.m. or until a winner of each class is determined. Those interested in attending or competing in the contest may log onto transjambmx.com.
