Vault by Vans Presents: Vans Curated by Our Legacy. Vans and Our Legacy partner to create a footwear and apparel capsule inspired by Californian hardcore punk culture. This spring, Vault by Vans collaborates with Stockholm-based menswear powerhouse, Our Legacy to create a 10-piece footwear and 12-piece apparel capsule collection inspired by Californian hardcore punk culture. The offerings include Vans’ classic footwear silhouettes in bold orange, black and white colorways and timeless Vans apparel basics including a pullover sweatshirt and graphic tees that convey a striking blend of street culture and high quality design.
Our Legacy co-founder, Jockum Hallin, grew up in Sweden in the early 90’s in a world of do-it-yourself culture that exposed him to skateboarding, touring with hardcore bands, releasing records and sleeping on floors. Hallin’s spirited attitude during this time developed into creative endeavors across music and fashion, all of which were driven by Hallin’s affinity toward the subversive culture that was burgeoning in the States.
The Vault by Vans x Our Legacy collection is directly inspired by Hallin’s interpretation of Californian skate, surf and hardcore punk culture in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s. The collection executes minimal and monochromatic design elements, reduced in detailing and colors, focusing on shapes, silhouettes, materials and fabric qualities. Symbolic subcultural references are seen throughout the collection including “positive mental attitude” (PMA), “use your head,” “all ages” and “Orange County.”
Vans, the original action sports footwear and apparel brand, presents the Authentic™ Chino, as part of the spring 2017 Men’s Apparel collection. The Authentic™ Chino features Vans’ Sturdy Stretch twill fabrication, highlighting a purposeful innovation that embraces timeless style and skateboard functionality all-in-one. To create an everyday staple that can be worn from day to night, Vans gained insight from their skate team to fulfill the need for classic style, lifestyle functionality and all-day comfort. The Authentic™ Chino utilizes a poly-covered Lycra® thread, which serves as the foundation of Vans’ unique Sturdy Stretch formula, to provide a long-lasting stretch and shape retention that is built for durability and comfort. Hidden functionality features include flat felled seams to prevent crotch blowouts, sewn bar tacks for reinforcement, curved slant pockets and a hidden coin pocket. The chinos feature a woven Vans branded label and are available in classic colorways including black, dirt and dark slate.
The Authentic™ Chino is available now across Europe at Vans’ retail locations and online at www.vans.eu.
In a world where print is disappearing and magazines turn into online operations, BMX RIDER is hangin' tough. Although there are a few BMX magazines that come out on an irregular basis, the German magazine has just hit #28. Tim Korbmacher was just at the Simple Session in Tallinn so you can expect a full on report of the contest in print when the next issue comes out in a few months from now. But first things first. Here is a short list of stories that went into the winter issue where not a lot of outdoor riding got done around Germany.

At an MSRP of $979.99 the Dennis Enarson complete bike isn't quite the entry level BMX bike. But Dennis Enarson isn't the entry level rider either. The San Diegan could build this bike up out of the box and do all the tricks he can do today. Yes, it's made for the serious BMX-er out there who thinks Dennis is a great guy. The bike weighes in at 23.34 lbs so it's not the leightest bike out there, but it will hold up to many burly tricks. If you've ever seen Dennis ride, you know what I mean. Top tube length options are limited to 21" and it comes in dark olive (or black if you are lucky enough to track one down internationally). Check the spec list and the photos and hop on a bike that the Park rider of the year rides.
