Rising BMX star Drew Bezanson has officially withdrawn from competing at this weekend’s Dew Tour Pantech Open competition in Ocean City, Maryland. The 22 year-old native of Truro, Nova Scotia has been forced off his bike while he continues to recover from a head trauma injury sustained while training last month in Toronto, Ontario. Bezanson failed to recognize the severity of the injury at the time of occurrence and has only recently begun to undergo the necessary medical care which should ultimately lead him to a full recovery.
Says
Bezanson:
“I haven’t felt right since I took that crash, but continued to ride at several BMX events and demos, believing that I was just tired, jet-lagged, etc. So at this point, it’s a relief to have identified my problem and be able to begin healing from it. I want to take a minute to thank all of my fans for cheering me on constantly, as well as my sponsors for believing in me and giving me this necessary chance to rest up and recover properly.”
